Washington state Governor Jay Inslee Tuesday signed House Bill (HB) 1240, prohibiting the sale, manufacture, import and distribution of assault weapons within the state.
The ban consists of AR-15s, AK-47s and plenty of other forms of semiautomatic weapons. In accordance with the invoice, “[a]ssault weapons are civilian variations of weapons created for the army and are designed to kill people rapidly and effectively.” The invoice exempts the sale of those weapons to armed forces branches and regulation enforcement businesses.
Although the ban went into impact instantly on Tuesday, it has already seen its first authorized problem. A Vancouver gun retailer joined the Second Modification Basis and the Firearms Coverage Coalition in bringing a lawsuit difficult the constitutionality of the ban and searching for injunctive reduction.
