HRW: Russia forces appear to have executed Ukraine soldiers attempting surrender

Russian forces appear to have carried out the execution of Ukrainian troopers as they had been trying to give up and it has been occurring since December 2023, in response to a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report launched Thursday.

HRW investigated 5 cases of the obvious executions. The preliminary 4 investigations analyzed footage materials, deducing that it demonstrated the intent to give up of the Ukrainian troopers. Moreover, HRW indicated that the Russian troopers had been in a position to be recognized due to distinctive crimson tape markings round their legs and arms. The fifth investigation centered on a video interview of a Ukrainian soldier and members of the family of different victims.

In issues concerning battle crimes, Worldwide Humanitarian Regulation establishes that troopers who give up to the enemy are to be thought of hors of fight and attacking them is strictly prohibited, as indicated by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

HRW wrote to Russian Protection Minister Sergei Shoigu demanding particulars concerning the obvious executions, however hasn’t but obtained a response.
