Family of 11-Year-Old Boy Shot by Police File $5 Million Lawsuit After Authorities Decline to Charge Officer Involved

The household of an 11-year-old boy who was shot by police after he referred to as 911 and requested for his or her assist have launched a $5 million federal lawsuit in opposition to the town of Indianola, Mississippi and two cops, accusing the police division of poor coaching and supervision of its officers, reckless disregard and gross negligence, The Guardian reports. The lawsuit comes after authorities declined to cost the officer concerned. Aderrien Murry, who’s Black, was shot within the chest by Sgt Greg Capers after his mom requested him to name the police when the daddy of one among his half-siblings turned indignant. On Thursday a grand jury determined there was no felony conduct by Capers within the case and, in consequence, the legal professional basic’s workplace stated it will not press any fees. The police division has but to launch body-camera footage of the incident, regardless of repeated requests by each the household and the lawsuit.
