South Carolina man sues police after being ‘shot at 50 times’ during wellness check

South Carolina man Trevor Mullinax filed a complaint in opposition to York County, South Carolina, and the York County Sheriff’s Workplace Wednesday claiming he was shot at “round 50 instances” throughout a wellness test in 2021.

The grievance states relations referred to as in a wellness test on Mullinax as he contemplated suicide. Mullinax had a shotgun within the automobile with him. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at Mullinax’s property, jumped from their automobiles and pointed their firearms at Mullinax and his mom. The deputies then started taking pictures “instantly and with out warning.”

Mullinax was hit by at the very least 9 bullets and was hit as soon as within the head. The deputies charged Mullinax with pointing and presenting a firearm on the deputies. Your entire ordeal was captured by a dash cam.

The grievance alleged the sheriff’s division engaged in gross negligence, false imprisonment, barratry, abuse of course of, battery, and defamation. A press release from the York County Sheriff’s Workplace states that three of the 4 deputies are “nonetheless serving the group” and that after an “unbiased investigation” all concerned deputies have been “cleared of any wrongdoing.”
