Serbia protestors demand accountability after railway roof collapse

The federal government of Serbia announced a day of mourning on Saturday after a railway station cover collapsed in Novi Unhappy on Friday, with protesters assembling exterior the federal government constructing in Belgrade with hands painted red to demand solutions following the tragedy amid allegations of corruption and negligence.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Inside Ivica Dačić came forward on Sunday to supply additional element into the efforts of the federal government to find out who was accountable. He stated that 26 individuals had been questioned Saturday “on the Novi Unhappy Police Directorate’s premises, with coordination from the Legal Police Directorate and within the presence of prosecutors.” 5 others had been scheduled to be questioned on Sunday. The survivors stay in critical condition. Talking on the rescue operation, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Inside Ivica Dačić, said:

Rescue groups arrived inside minutes of the emergency name, with over 80 rescuers from a number of cities collaborating within the operation and heavy equipment from the Ministry of the Inside, in addition to tools from metropolis utilities and sure personal corporations, utilised within the rescue efforts.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
