On Friday, the US Division of Justiceannounced the indictment of two Russian nationals, Alexey Bilyuchenko and Aleksandr Verner, for allegedly hacking the cryptocurrency trade Mt. Gox in 2011 and working the unlawful trade BTC-e. They’re charged with conspiring to launder round 647,000 bitcoins stolen from Mt. Gox and utilizing BTC-e to launder funds for cybercriminals worldwide. The indictment alleges unauthorized entry to Mt. Gox’s server and fraudulent transfers of bitcoins to accounts managed by the defendants.

“The Division of Justice will work tirelessly to determine cyber criminals, regardless of the place they’re. And Bilyuchenko and his co-conspirators will be taught that the Division of Justice has lengthy arms and a good longer reminiscence for crimes that hurt our communities,” U.S. Legal professional Ismail J. Ramsey for the Northern District of California stated in a press release.
