New York Governor Allocates $51 Million to Help Secure Orgs Targeted By Hate Crimes

New York Governor Kathy Hochul hasannounced over $51 million in grants supposed to reinforce security and safety at nonprofit organizations dealing with hate crimes within the state. The governor additionally signed laws to strengthen reporting of hate crimes on faculty campuses. The announcement was made on the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York Metropolis. In 2022, there was a 20 p.c improve in reported hate crimes, with 947 incidents recorded by regulation enforcement.
