Fugitive Suspect Arrested For Role in Rwandan Genocide After 20 Years

The fugitive Fulgence Kayishema has been captured in South Africa, a United Nations tribunal for conflict crimes dedicated in Rwanda introduced on Thursday. Kayishema is accused of orchestrating the killing of round 2,000 Tutsi at a church in 1994 through the Rwandan genocide, Al Jazeera reports. Worldwide Residual Mechanism for Prison Tribunals Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz advised the BBC that Kayishema hid amongst refugees. The investigation into Kayishema’s function is ongoing. After he was apprehended, Kayishema advised press “he didn’t have any function” within the incident.
