Atlanta Sheriff To Begin 18-Month Prison Sentence for Civil Rights Violations

Former Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill was ordered to report back to federal jail on Monday to start his 18-month sentence after a federal choose denied his motions to stay free pending enchantment of his civil rights violations conviction, Alexandra Parkerreports for Atlanta News First.

Hill was convicted in October 2022 for violating the rights of inmates by allegedly subjecting them to extended intervals in a restraint chair with out reliable trigger. The court docket decided that Hill’s actions had no legitimate governmental function and violated the civil rights of the inmates. After making an attempt to file motions to postpone his sentence, citing potential authorized grounds for overturning the conviction, all arguments have been rejected.
