288 Arrests in International Dark Web Fentanyl Bust

The US Division of Justice introduced a significant crackdown on the darkish internet on Tuesday, as a part of its ongoing efforts to fight the fentanyl disaster, Deepa Shivaramreports for Nationwide Public Radio. The operation, referred to as SpecTor, concerned the US, Europe, and South America, and resulted in 153 arrests within the US alone with 288 arrests in whole, 85 kg of medicine, 117 firearms and $53m in money and on-line currencies being seized. The operation was led by the Joint Prison Opioid and Darknet Enforcement group and included the FBI, DEA, ATF, and 30 US attorneys’ workplaces. Lawyer Normal Merrick Garland warned criminals on the darkish internet that “the Justice Division will discover you and maintain you accountable on your crimes.” The DOJ introduced final month that they’ve infiltrated the Sinaloa drug cartel out of Mexico which is claimed to have a big function within the US fentanyl disaster.
